Piano Moves
Piano Moves in New York, Up Every Flight
We move upright and grand pianos in and out of brownstones, walk-ups and elevator buildings all over the city. Grands come off their legs onto a padded piano board, and uprights are strapped to a skid and taken one step at a time, with enough people to hold it on every stair.
We check the turns in every staircase, the elevator size and the doorways before the day, so there are no surprises on the landing. Send a photo of the piano and the stairs by text or chat, or call (212) 555-0142.

Quick answer
How much do piano movers cost in NYC?
Most piano moves within New York City cost between $495 and $1,500. The price depends on the type of piano, the number of stairs at each end and how tight the turns are. Real reviews
Don’t take our word for it
Our upright went up three flights with a turn I was sure it wouldn’t make. Marcus measured the landing first, took our door off its hinges for the extra inch, and there isn’t a scratch on the piano or the walls.
We got a text at 7:40 saying the crew was ten minutes out, and they rang the bell at 7:52. Our 2-bedroom on the 4th floor was empty by noon, and they still rebuilt the bed frame at the new place before leaving.
They quoted 3 to 4 hours for my studio, it took 3½, and the bill was exactly 3½ hours at the rate they gave me. No stair fee, no fuel charge, no mystery materials line. I’ve moved four times in this city and that’s a first.

Piano Moves questions answered
Still not sure? Ask us. We reply in under a minute.
Chat nowCan you move a piano up or down stairs?
Yes, that’s most of our piano work in New York. We take uprights and grands up and down brownstone stoops and narrow walk-up stairs on a board, with enough people to control it on every step.
Will my piano need tuning after?
Usually, yes. Pianos react to changes in temperature and humidity, so most tuners suggest waiting two to four weeks after a move and then booking a tuning.
What if the piano won’t fit up the stairs?
We check the turns from your photos before we quote. If it really won’t go, we can quote a window hoist, and we check your building’s and your block’s rules before the day.
Do you move grand pianos?
Yes. Grands travel on their side on a padded board with the legs, lyre and pedals removed, then they’re reassembled and leveled in the new room.
Are you insured for piano moves?
Yes. Every truck carries $100,000 in cargo cover and we hold $2 million in general liability, and we can send a certificate of insurance to your building.
Can you move just the piano?
Yes, most of our piano jobs are piano-only. If you’re moving home at the same time, we add it to the same day and the same quote.
